About THis CLASS
Build upon the foundation from Intro to Coding in this more advanced class. Starting with visual programming tools, our students will design, create and play their own games and projects. By the end of Coding III, many of the students will be able to begin their transition to designing more complex games and using mainstream programing languages like Coffeescript and Python.
Working in pairs, teams and individually, students learn computational thinking, principles of automation, decompositional thinking, problem solving, collaboration, abstraction and pattern recognition. Activities include making a two player shooter game, customizing arcade style games, creating their own drawing and design tools, learning to program a physics engine, controlling actions/shapes/movement/sounds of their characters and game mechanics.
Depending on your school's schedule, this class may be two sessions, Coding II and Coding III, or one longer session that combines Coding II/III together.
WHO WILL LOVE THIS class?
- Students that want to take the foundational principles they have learned in the Sparkiverse Coding I/II - or on their own - and want to continue their learning.
